what was a literary and visual arts movement that rejected romanticism?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was....Realism :D Romanticism basically rejected industrial life, saying it dehumanized people. Realism wanted to show, well, reality. What really is and was. Realism didn't hide ugly truths, Romantics loved natural scenes; the Realists said "Paint what you know," and that would involve everyday life events.
