Choose the correct simplification of 5 over x^-4!! please help :O A.x^4 over 5 B.5 over x^4 C.Already simplified D.5x^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whenever you see a negative exponent, you can swap its position from the numerator to the denominator (or from the denominator to the numerator) and change the sign of the exponent from negative to positive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's x^4 over 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

close, but you moved the 5 for some reason. keep the 5 where it was originally. the negative exponent was only acting on x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh.. so its 5 over x^4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry im horrible at math.... lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not quite. if you have 5/ x^(-4), then bring the x^(-4) to the numerator, and change the exponent from negative to positive you will end up with 5x^4

ohhh ok now I see what you're saying...thanks so much man
