What are the reactants and products of ester synthesis? @zaynahf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oxoacids and a compound with an hidroxil group (HO) and the product is an ester. its called the ficher esterification

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so an acid is the product?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no an ester is the product

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay... im doomed tomorrow on my chem final.... but thanks! (:

its simple, if it says ester synthesis you're making an ester |dw:1358996617565:dw| where R is a random group like methyl, ethyl, etc. and to know the reactives its basically to know the structure of the product and try to break it into 2 known reagents, in this case an alchol (OHgroup) and an a carboxilic acid|dw:1358996828960:dw| and the general reaction|dw:1358996882684:dw|
