Help Please Inverse Functions vs. Reciprocals Let f(x) = 8 + ( 3 x + 8 ) ^3 . Find f-1(x) = Find ( f(x))-1 =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its supposed to say f to the small -1 (x) but I couldn't figure out how to write in the script. and the (f(x)) is to the small script -1 not f minus 1

OpenStudy (mertsj):

To find the inverse, replace f(x) with x and x with y. To find the reciprocal, put 1over 8+(3x+8)^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for the inverse I had this: x= 8+(3y+8)^3 but when I entered it in it came back wrong. I replaced the f(x) with x and the x with Y.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You should then solve it for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then x-8=(3y+8)^3 for the next step would i divide 3y+8 on both sides? What should I do with the the ^3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it possible that the inverse is not a function for this equation?
