A merry-go-round with negligible mass has to 60 kg riding it with a distance of 4 meters from the rotational axis. They initially rotate at 3 meters a second. What is their velocity if they move to a point 1/2 a meter from the axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we say v=rw, mass plays no part in this. w is a constant value. you are given the angular speed and radius. solve for w. then set up v= r w again and plug in the new radius and the w we got and solve for v. the closer the particle is to the center, the slower its speed.
