\[\sqrt{x+3}=\sqrt{4x-8}\]

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Take square on both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok now what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you get after doing that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you take the root, then solve like a regular equation. Make sure to check your answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+3=4x-8

@jim_thompson5910 @zepdrix

OpenStudy (ashley1nonly):

x+3=4x-8 add 8 to both sides x+11=4x minus the x on both sides 11=3x divide by 3 x=11/3 (11/3)+3=20/3 (4 times (11/3)=44/3-8=20/3

OpenStudy (ashley1nonly):

they equal now x=11/3 and the final answer is( 20/3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I checked it and it didn't work
