If XYZ is an isosceles triangle with base , what is the measure of Z? (Picture below.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isosceles means all sides are the same right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

two sides are the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the formula to find it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Answer is 60 degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer would be 30 degrees, because both angle Z and angle Y have to be 30 (to equal 60).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you @KenField.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait, it's 60 lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is 60 because 120 is the external angle and since sum of Y + Z is equal to the external angle and Y=Z since triangle is isosceles, therefore Z = 60.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH my bad. Didn't even think of the external angle haha.
