Based on Figure 20–3, how does the prion protein differ from the normal protein? A. The prion is much larger. B. The prion has a different shape. C. The prion has a different chemical formula. D. The prion is more spherical.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it might be B or C but i really have no idea if someone could explain it to me. that would be awesome :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

damn i learned about this but i forgot im so srry :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's alright :p haha I have the same problem ..thats why im asking;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i acually think its B because in the book it said that prions are made because they were foled incorrecctly so then the shape would be a big matter in this question... i think...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

srry i wish i can help yu but im lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahah its fine

There is a one-way movement of water and minerals from the cortex into the vascular cylinder of a root because A. water molecules are in high concentration in the cortex. B. nutrients are in low concentration in the cortex. C. the root pressure is low. D. the Casparian strip is waterproof.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think this one is D...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it might be A

OpenStudy (frostbite):

In the first one about the protein... the folding of a protein is determined by the intermolenuclear force among molecules... hydrogen bonds, ion bonds, hydrofobic bonds, ect. The cause of this can be many, it can be tempeture, pH, amino acid change from the originial protein and so on. So if we have to be obvious... The protein is folded yes, but what causing it can be the change in the chemical formula (change in amino acids)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay i was thinking like the chemical would make the most sense but thn i saw the shape one so i figured it was just that but thanks that makes sense :)

OpenStudy (frostbite):

But I would say the protein is misfolded. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah me too but thats not an option so...

OpenStudy (frostbite):

About plant anatomy and physology I don't know :/

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Well then shape

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so shape or chemical because tech the shape would only be wrong if the chemical formula is differet right?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Well... the chemical structure of a protein determines its 3d structure ... in other words, the primary structure dominates over the other stuctures for a protein.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 2nd one is D right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the 1st on is shape?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Don't know :/ I'm not into plant anatomy and physology

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:p alright

OpenStudy (frostbite):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Koikkara

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@phi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so would it be chem or shape?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i choose shape and got it right:):)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the second one i did i got it right too:)
