PERPENDICULAR VECTORS: a & b have the same direction. a has the magnitude of 8, and b has the magnitude of 5. What must be true about a & b? A. They are opposites & parallel B. They are parallel, but not equal C. They are equal, but not parallel D. They are opposites, but not parallel a &b have opposite, but not different directions. a has a magnitude of 7, and b has a magnitude of 6. What must be true about a &b? A. They are not parallel, opposites, or equal B. They are parallel, but not equal C. They are opposites and parallel D. They are parallel, but not opposites

OpenStudy (jamesj):

What do you think the answer is to the first part. If they have the same direction, then they must be parallel right? So which answer is correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know, I don't know how to do these at all. My guess for #1 is B

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Yes B. They are in the same direction, but not the same length. Hence they must be parallel but not equal. For the second question, draw yourself a diagram. What might the two vectors a and b look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no clue :(

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Here's a simple diagram a: <------- b: ------> They point in opposite directions. Make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, sorry my connection is awful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be C?
