Suppose that y varies jointly with w and x and inversely with z and y = 360 when w = 8, x = 25, and z = 5. Write the equation that models the relationship. Then find y when w = 4, x = 4, and z = 3.

its for algebra.. these are what the answers look like..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=wx9/z, 48

i did set it up correctly i was simply confused sorry.

OpenStudy (smokeysthename):

how did you get that? i dont want just the answer, i need an explanation too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically make the equation y=wxc/z we know that wx varies jointly and inversely with z so wx is on top of the fraction and z is on the bottom. There is an unknown factor c we have to solve for. Solving for c after we plug in the values get we get 9. If you need more explanation I can try.

OpenStudy (smokeysthename):

noo thats fine, i understand it. thank you! (:
