Sam wants to tile the roof of his shed with square tiles that are 4 inches square. His roof is 12 feet by 12 feet. How many tiles does he need?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so here's how i solved it... first change the 12 ft into inches

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so since they're 12 in per ft, you multiply 12 x 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now your roof is 144in by 144in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to take it from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to divide by 4 to see how many tiles you need length and width wise
