The picture is of a cylinder with a right circular cone inside. Find the volume of the shaded region. The base of the cylinder has a radius of 3 meters and the height of the cylinder is 9 meters.

So it looks like all we need to do is find the Volume of the Cone, the Volume of the Cylinder and then subtract them to find the shaded region.\[\huge V_{cylinder}-V_{cone}=V_{shaded}\]

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Volume of a Cylinder is given by this formula, \[\large V_{cylinder}=\pi r^2 h\] We were given information telling us that the height is 9m and the radius is 3m. Plugging these in gives us, \[\large V_{cylinder}=\pi(3)^2(9)\]

zepdrix (zepdrix):

The formula for Volume of a Cone I believe is,\[\large V_{cone}=\frac{1}{3}\pi r^2 h\]
