Help with GCF

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the Greatest Common Factor for the given polynomial? 9xy^2 - 24xy + 15x im a little confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GCF: We need to look at both the coefficient and pronumerals.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9,24,15, what is the GCF of those? xy^2, xy, x what is the GCF of those?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes u are right for the coefficient(numbers) how about the pronumerals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be 3x by any chance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes u are right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because "x" is the GCF of xy^2, xy, x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 3 of 9,24,15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

therefore 3x is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem, as long as u learnt how to do it :)
