IN the diagram below, assume the line that appears to be tangent is tangent. C is the center of the circle find the value of X. Could you please explain the steps?

tangents to a circle are at rt angles with radius at the point of contact hence the sides of the rt angled triangle in the picture is 9,12,(9+x)

using pythogaras theorem we have (x+9)^2=9^2+12^2 (x+9)^2=15^2 hence x+9=15 or x=15-9 or x=6
