OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, that's what I did but I got the wrong answer...

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

\[h^2+(6x)^2=6.5^2\] \[h=\sqrt{6.5^2-(6x)^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's 6.5x**

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

oh yeah \[\color{red}*\\ h^2+(6x)^2=(6.5x)^2\] \[h=\sqrt{(6.5x)^2-(6x)^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, that's what I got.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

now square the terms in the brackets , and factor out x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, I know where I went wrong. I did 6.5 x 6.5 =36.25 and it should be 42.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hate no calculator questions!! :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do u figure out 6.5 x 6.5 quickly by hand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

besides normal multiplying.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and one more question how do u solve Sqrt(6.25x^2) by hand? how would u know the Sqrt of 6.25?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

\[6.5^2=6^2+2(6)(0.5)+0.5^2\] \[\qquad=36+6+0.25\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, got it, thanks and can u help me with my other question?
