-1/3y<-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kugler97

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am not smart at all Grace trust mehh!! :P lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look here -1/3y<-8 multiply both sides b 3 what you get??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*by

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-24?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes -y<-24 now removing the -ve sign will invert this inequaility do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you will remove this -ve sign you will get y>24 you saw the difference???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are confusing me more! D;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no dont confuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@A.Avinash_Goutham help me D: this is confusing me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look here if 3>2 then -3<-2 thats it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now call the police even if you are not getting it. LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont have the phone to call the police because I STILL dont unsterstand >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where you are not getting the point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is confusing! im stupid okay!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make something simple for you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5<-4 you agree with this???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk! i dont understand it at all! :((:(:(:(:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok see this in mathematics if two quantities are unequal then we use > or < sign now < is a sign for " less than " and > is a sign for "greater than" now there are two kids whose ages are 10 and 12 years respectively therefore you say 10 < 12 means 10 is less than 12 got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but the things changes when we talk about negative numbers in general we say 6 is greater than 5 means 6>5 but when negative numbers come then -6 is less than -5 means -5 is grater than -6 now in mathematics we write it as -6<-5 thus you saw that 6>5 means 6 is greater than 5 -6<-5 means -6 is less than -5 you got it or still confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got lost...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my 12 years old brother interpret it as follow. he says if you have 10 dollars in your pocket and i have 20 dollars then i m better than you. means 20>10 but if you have borrowed 10 dollars from someone and i have borrowed 20 dollars then you are better than me means -20<-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@AravindG

OpenStudy (aravindg):

:) you need my help ? happy to hear that

OpenStudy (aravindg):

first tell me is y in denominator ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its the same as the pther ones we did... im on the same test

OpenStudy (aravindg):

y in denominator ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }\] y <-8

OpenStudy (aravindg):

that doesnt answer my question !!

OpenStudy (aravindg):

i cant still fogure out hwere y fits in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1 over 3y <-8
