Could someone help with these two answers please? If the air inside a balloon exerts a force of 1.5 N on an area of 0.5 m², what is the pressure inside the balloon? A. 0.5 N/m² B. 1.5 N/m² C. 2.5 N/m² D. 3 N/m² As your airplane takes off from an airstrip on the ground and rises 30,000 feet into the sky, what happens to the air pressure on the outside of the airplane? A. The air pressure decreases. B. The air pressure increases. C. The air pressure stays the same. D. More information is needed.

For first one...do you know what is the meaning of PRESSURE??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pressure is a force applied on an object right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pressure is the force per unit area....P=F/A so divide force by area to get answer to first question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not force applied on an object.. its how much force is coming on a unit area.. !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer would be D? 3N/m2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah thanks I get it now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the second one, when an airplane takes off, nothing happens to air pressure..what happens is that..pressure on the lower side of wings becomes greater than the upper one and it rises due to pressure difference......in the question, its not specified on which side of wing....so overall air pressure remains the same

Thank you so much!

my pleasure
