How do I figure out the interval where a function is increasing or decreasing? x^2+6x+5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could notice that this is a parabola opening upwards, so you could find the axis of symmetry. Since it opens upwards its decreasing from the left to the axis of symmetry, and increasing from the axis of symmetry to the right axis of symmetry=-b/2a when you have form ax2+bx+c so -6/2(1) -3
