The ordered pair (1, -5) is a solution for the system x + 2y = -9 and x - y = 6. Trye or False

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry typo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simply substitute (1,-5) as x and y into both equations to get the value as stated so if u substitute x=1 and y=-5 into the first equation u should get -9 same applies for the second equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well just try it? put x=1 and y=-5 and see what happens

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks trying it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks it true!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me ur answer afterwards, and I will confirm it for u.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your welcome. Also remember when solving for anything and u end up with something like this, a= 3.25 or b=3 or so on.... remember u can check if it correct by substituting the value back into the original equation to see if it makes sense.
