OpenStudy (anonymous):

During one round, Shelley used 14 tiles and could not use 6. what was her score for that round

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Not enough information.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So how many tiles did shelley have in total? Divide the number of tiles she successfully used (\(14\)) by the total number of tiles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try this, in a word game, you score one positive point for each letter tile that you use and one negative point for each tile that you have left. So now the answer to my question would be what?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So her total would be 14 positive points (1 point for each tile she used). and then add to that, 6 negative points (1 negative point for each tile she didn't use). \[\large 14+(-6)\] This is the same thing as,\[\large 14-6\]
