Find the simplified form of the expression. Give your answer in scientific notation. (please help me out)... 9. (8 × 10^7)(7 × 10^4) A. 1.5 × 10^12 B. 5.6 × 10^12 C. 1.5 × 10^29 D. 5.6 × 1,029

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Multiply the 8 and 7. Then add the exponents on the 10's. Then put the number into scientific notation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so before Scientific notation i'd look like this... 56 x 10^7+4 ?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Yes if you add the 7 and 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you a lot! I honestly understand now.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Wonderful!! Did you put it into scientific notation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i do this? What is the simplified form of the expression? (y^–5)^–10y^10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, i'm confused now.!

OpenStudy (mertsj):

56 x 10^11 is not scientific notation because 56 is not between 1 and 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like i added the 7 and 4 together and got 11. but it doesn't match any of the answer choices ) :

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah i knew that the exponents have to be smaller than the ten...

OpenStudy (mertsj):

No. Not the exponents...the 56 has to be between 1 and 10 so rewrite it as 5.6 x 10^12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay!! I totally got it. thank you means a lot.

OpenStudy (mertsj):
