Multiply: (2x + 6)2 A. 4x2 + 12x + 36 B. 4x2 + 24x + 36 C. 2x2 + 36 D. 4x2 + 36

OpenStudy (lakers):

is it C or D because i cant remember if the ^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you supposed to be doing distributive property with the 2, or is it ^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would say c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pretty sure it has to be ^2

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

it would only make sense if it were squared, since none of the answers are 4x+12 (2x+6)^2 = (2x+6)(2x+6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I looked at the answers and I would say c the only thing that doesn't make sense is that in the answers after 2x it doesn't show that it should be squared if you know what I mean. Like c would make the most sense, are you sure that the answer isn't 2x^2+36?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this problem is (2x + 6)^2 not (2x+6) so in this case we must square the whole thing like this because of the we have (2x+6) (2x+6) we use FOIL method like this we because we 2x and 2x we times them to get 4x^2 than we take 2x and times to 6 to get 12x +12x +36 so our answer is 4x^2 +24x+36
