Is "Shake it off." an idiom?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is. I looked in the idiom dictionary and it was in there so i guess yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is "Pull it together." another one? haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep it is :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They're both idioms because they may not mean the literal term.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yesssss =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, thank you! One more question, the line "Your life fell apart in your hands," is that a metaphor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes ^^ its not literal or actually happening, so yes its a metaphor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah i agree its a metaphor.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, that wasnt one more question, THIS is my last one! The term "It's pulling you under." What is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hm..any context? that could be personification, 'it' possibly being inanimate, this sentence would be giving it person-like characteristics

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah "it's" I think is supposed to be someone's demeanor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so yes, the demeanor is not alive itself, so the answer is personification

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much :)
