Synthetic Division

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x^2 + 13x + 40) รท (x + 8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heya there, its been a while since I've used synthetic division. You have to use the the leading term of the divisor (in this case, its just x) to divide the leading term of the 'divised' (in this problem it is x^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So from here you divise just like any other division problem you've done. x goes into x^2, x times. Just like 3 goes into 9, 3 times.

what is synthetic division
