Length AB in term of x is = 80-2x.cos60 = 80-x h in terms of x is = x.sin60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b and c I should be able to figure out but can u explain Length AB in term of x is = 80-2x.cos60 = 80-x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you know the lenght of sheet is 80 cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't worry, I figured it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but shouldn't it be 2(x times cos60)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it should be because i m considering both triangle sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk, and the answer is 80 - 2x from the textbook.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xcos60+xcos60 = x/2+x/2 = x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=2x not x I believe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is the combine lenght of both the triangle's sides now subtracting it from 80 should result in 80-x not in 80-2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, how does xcos60=x/2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cos60 = 1/2 xcos60= x/2

@kropot72 are u sure?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Yes, I am sure. This checks with the given answer.
