What do you think the black soup ingredients are? I read during the Peloponnesian War the Spartan army's use to eat only or should I say mainly one type of food and it was called black soup. All other residents were said to find the soup appalling and thought about it with great disgust. I wish I had the ingredients to this black soup, I bet caviar was one of the ingredients.

"made of boiled pigs' legs, blood, salt and vinegar" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_soup Blood soup is still consumed.
It was not only the food of the Spartans but also of the Athenians. Johnnn is correct. It consisted of pig legs, blood, salt and vinegar. The vinegar was used to keep the blood from clotting in the cooking process.
