Explain what is meant by the Doppler Effect. Explain one real-world application of the Doppler Effect. 2.The Doppler Effect explains why you hear a train whistle differently after it passes you than you do as it approaches you. True or false ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The doppler effect is when a moving object produces a sound with a fairly constant frequency and the wavelength in front of the object is bunched up producing a highpitched sound while the wavelength behind the object is stretched out producing a lower pitched sound

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you use that information to answer the rest of the questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea.. but remember doppler shift also takes place if the source is stationary and the listener was moving..
