Which of these processes transfers carbon from oceans into the atmosphere? combustion diffusion excretion respiration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Carbon moves back and forth, between the ocean and the atmosphere, through molecular diffusion. DIFFUSION is where particles move from an area of LOWER concentration to an area of HIGHER concentration. For example, when carbon dioxide pressure is greater in the atmosphere, and lower in the ocean, the carbon dioxide will move to the ocean. DIFFUSION is all about balance. If there's less carbon in the ocean, then carbon will move into the ocean. If there's less carbon in the atmosphere, then carbon will move toward the atmosphere. It's all about balance.

so it's diffusion?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I got it all mixed up.

Particles move from and area of HIGHER concentration, to LOWER concentration. HIGHER >> LOWER. Again, it's all about balance. And yes. Diffusion.
