Suppose you are making yourself a sandwich. How many different sandwiches can you make if you have four choices in bread, two choices in meat, and five choices in cheese?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking that I'd just multiply 4 x 2 x 5 = 40 but maybe not?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

40 is the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you! XD

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

yaa!! you are right!! @Elysse2012

OpenStudy (anonymous):

40

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

Tell me this, is it necessary to use all items at once ? I mean you can still make a sandwich with only bread and cheese ; or bread and meat.

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

i dont think sooo bcoz sandwitch may contain atlest chese and meat, tatleast taste willb every nice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question is maximum number of sandwich which will be the product 4x2x5 that is 40.

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

I guess I won't be wrong if I say final answer is (4*2*5) + (4*2) + (4*5) = 68

OpenStudy (anonymous):

definitely, if sandwich is only of meat or cheese.
