Jack London to build a fire What happens to Tom Vincent at the end of the story? What does he learn?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought in the end of the story he got buried in snow and froze to death.

okay so he couldn't walk any more, he got the idea to kill his dog and crawl inside it's carcus and the dog got scared and wouldn't come to him. He then sat in the snow and he said "you were right old hoss; you were right..." He waited still and thought about the two boys finding his body the next day, and then he fell asleep and it was the best sleep he'd ever had.

He learned that he should have listened to "Old Hoss"
