3x-5=7x+11 what are the sol sets Can anyone walk me through this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyone there???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3x-5=7x+11\] you want all the \(x\)'s on one side of the equal sign, the numbers on the other subtract \(3x\) from both sides to get \[-5=4x+11\]as a first step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what I did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now the \(x\) is on the right, subtract \(11\) from both sides to put the number on the left get \[-16=4x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

finally divide both sides by \(4\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but its asking for solution sets as meaning setting to 0 and obtaining two different answers hence sets

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like a quadratic

any way how to setup?
