OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

I would seriously like to know the results of various reports i have issued of inappropriate behaviour

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

if those in charge agree; i'd like to know what has been resolved. and if those in charge do not agree; i'd like to know why

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

@Preetha

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

and...

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

Has the most recent report been taken seriously?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

Has the moderator i reported been giving a stern talking to ?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

I guess im assuming that those who read the reports have access to chat history, is this so?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

or should i be copy-pasting offensive chat into my reports ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

chat posts are a cumbersome area. But in the abuse reports we receive it lists like the last 5 chats posts, recent questions, and recent responses to question. A chat report link sends us to a rather dead page that contains the post buried in it someplace. Once you find the red highlighted section that is being reported, you then have to find out how to get to the chatroom that the person was using; then you have to hunt down the icon of the person to open up the hover commands to initiate a warning or suspension.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if the linking page was more active (able to read less chat content and be more focused on the offensive portion, and be able to initiate warnings and suspension from it) then the chat reports would be more productive. But thats just what I think :)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

I guess i should have gone into some detail in my report , i wasn't issuing my report about a single comment, rather a whole string of conversations. I choose not to because i didn't really want to repeat what had been said or attempt to isolate the issue as an event, it was more of an attitude that i was flagging

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Report abuses get emailed to all the mods; and I have about 2000 of them that get piled up. The reports also flash a notif on a mod screen so that active mods can respond to the situation. If you wanna email me the username I can search thru the emails to see what the content of the report was about to see if I think they would have made a judgement call for or against it.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

.... not email me, but private message me :) otherwise you can post it out here in the open

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

NB i think the exact comment i pressed report on was not half as bad preceding conversation(s)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

any conversation that the administrators may have had with that person are personal and not "public record"

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

I'm not asking for a transcript, i just want to know if some action has been taken

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then we will have to see if an administrator feels the need to respond ;) I do not have access to any personal communications like that

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

If you have questions about how an abuse report is handled, please email abuse@openstudy.com . Note that we may or may not actually provide details. The mod process is somewhat intentionally not transparent to the reporting user, because there is a lot of volume in abuse reports, and we have no interest in the moderators getting flak for some things slipping through the cracks when they're trying to deal with thousands of abuse reports, many of them of the spurious “my feelings got hurt” variety. That said, we'll look into anything you send and try to get back to you if we think it's appropriate.
