I beg to differ, mitosis results in two genetical identical daughter cells while meiosis results in four daughter cells(bearing in mind that meiosis has 2 phases) each with different genetic make up. 
Meiosis and mitosis are both forms of cell division/reproduction so they will give rise to more than one cell..
