mitosis results in two cells, whereas meiosis resultis in one cell, is this true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Division as Mitosis results in 2 identical daughter cells, while Meiosis results in genetically different cell. You are correct, it is true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I beg to differ, mitosis results in two genetical identical daughter cells while meiosis results in four daughter cells(bearing in mind that meiosis has 2 phases) each with different genetic make up. Meiosis and mitosis are both forms of cell division/reproduction so they will give rise to more than one cell..

You may very well be correct. I read off of Wikipedia, and didn't bother reading through... XD
