I remember a scene from Of Mice and Men, where Lenny is offered to touch the soft hair of another woman. The woman regrets her offer and screams for him to let go. Lenny being special, his only instinct is to hold on. He gets mad and shakes her so she will stop screaming. Sadly, he shakes her so hard, he breaks her neck. Many special needs kids has shaken their pets to death. It is very similiar to what Lenny did, only difference is it is a less frightening case.

Shortly after the womans death, his companion and close friend, George came to him and spoke with him. After making Lenny feel better, George made him turn around and think about that great place they were going to get and how Lenny was going to tend the rabbits. When Lenny was distracted, George pulled out a Lugger pistol, and shot him in the back of the head. For he knew when Lenny was caught, the womans husband would surely do worse. To be a survivor in life, sometimes one must grow up a few years altogether and do what must be done.
