in a study of 10,000 women(JAMA, Feb. 18, 2004), scientists reported that women who had breast cancer had a history of heavier antibiotic use than women who did not have breast cancer. What possible explanations for this correlation can you suggest?

One theory according to researchers is that women who take antibiotics also have a lowered immunity system which may predispose them to breast cancer another possibility is that antibiotic kills off bacteria in the stomach that can help protect women from breast cancer, so over-prescription of antibiotics for women is being discouraged
