For an intense (8ish, 9ish paragraph) research paper I'm writing, part of what I'm trying to do is define the tropes and required characteristics of the Western Genre in literature and other media, but I'm using examples that I discuss later in the paper as being part of the Western genre.

If that wasn't clear at all: In my paper, I'm going to end up saying that The western genre has these characteristics because Book A, Movie B and Book C have this characteristic. I'm later going to say that Book A is in the western genre because it has that characteristic.

Should I worry about making my paper less catch-22ish?  Or because my paper is outlining my definition of the Western genre, so I need to worry about it at all?
