A tourist being chased by an angry bear is running in a straight line toward his car at a speed of 4.10 m/s. The car is a distance d away. The bear is 30.2 m behind the tourist and running at 5.45 m/s. The tourist reaches the car safely. What is the maximum possible value for d?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He will be caught in 30.2/1.35 seconds = 22.37 sec. So he should be able to reach his car within this time. Meaning that the maximum distance he can cover is 22.37*4.10 = 91.71m
