i always get the equations but I am having problems choosing the ones to use for the actual solving :(

and i dont understand why they choose junctions 1 and 6 and not 3 :/

Both 1 & 6 or 1 & 3 work.

There's nearly always more than one way to solve these sorts of circuit problems; the important thing is to incorporate all of the variables into the system.

You're right though to look at the solution, as they may use some elegant trick that it's worth using. In this however they did not.
