Please Help! evaluate the polynomial for x=5 and x=-5 3x^2-4x+7

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Rewrite your expression. Everytime you start to feel like you want to write an 'x', write '5', instead.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it make it 15^2-20+7?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Pretty close, but remember to observe your Order of Operations. \(3\cdot5^{2} = 3\cdot (5^{2}) = 3\cdot 25 = 75\) Exponents go before multiplication.

oh ok I thought it would be on the outside of ()

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you for 5=62 and for -5=102

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Well, please never write "5 = 62" again. What you mean is, the expression, when evaluated with x = 5, is 62. You do NOT mean what you have written, 5 = 62.
