Medal given for help!!! Solve the equation graphically in the given interval. State each answer correct to two decimals. x2 − 0.85x + 0.15 = 0; [−2, 2] X HAS 3 SOLUTIONS ONE BEING 0 WHAT ARE THE OTHER 2 ?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

No, x only has two solutions, it's a quadratic. To get 3 solutions you would need an x^3 term in there somewhere, by the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra. Part of the problem is that you think 0 is a solution. If 0 is a solution, the following should be true: \[(0)^2 - 0.85(0) + 0.15 = 0\]\[0-0+0.15 = 0\]Not in my universe!
