Need two sentences in my essay.
Question: COmposers may address issues of 'belonging' in their texts, but within this exploration there are also inevitably issues of 'not belonging'. My text is "10 Mary Street" by Peter Skrzynecki. The final stanza of 10 Mary Street immediately locates the audience at a time when Skrzynecki reflects on when his family became Australian citizens. The strong image of the line, “Naturalized more than a decade ago…We became citizens of the soil..” evokes a strong sense of identity to the Australian land. <insert sentence here> The irony in “Inheritors of a key/That'll open no house/When this one is pulled down” of gaining citizenship and acceptance to the persona’s new country but losing their home provides a strong connection to place. <insert sentence here>
