Find the vertex of the graph of the function. f(x) = 2x2 - 8x + 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know x=-b/2a formular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know it but am unsure how to use it? would b be -8 and a be 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x=\frac{ -(-8) }{ 2(2) }\] ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x=\frac{ 8 }{ 4 }\] \[x=\frac{ 4 }{ 1 }\] \[x=4\] would that be the vertex?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for not coming but yeh you on the right track

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now put x=4 in the original equation 2(4)^2-8(4)+9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the vertex is the (4,the answer above)
