what is BCD equivalent mean for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BCD = binary coded decimal

OpenStudy (badhi):

If the number is 29 the binary equivalent can be written as $$29_{10}=11101_2$$ But in BCD, you take 2 and 9 separately from 29 and convert them separately to binary $$2_{10}=10_2 $$ $$9_{10}=1001_2$$ So eventually the BCD equivalent of 29 can be written as the combination of these together $$\underbrace{10}_{(\mathbb{from} \; 2_{10})}\underbrace{1001}_{(\mathbb{from}\;9_{10})}=101001$$
