I am trying to align my APA references, but the second line will not tab over. What could be the problem?

Are you using Word 2010? I am and I have the same problem.

Yes, It will not shift for me. Don't know what to do?

What is the page justification set to? At the top of the screen there will be a number of icons that show examples of how the lines on the page can be formatted, align right, align left etc. Here is a site that offers a tutorial on working with tabs. http://www.gcflearnfree.org/word2010/8 Hope it helps.

Thanks, that was helpful. Purdue Owl sent this too: 1) Highlight the entire reference list. 2) Click on the Paragraph tab, found in the toolbar at the top of the page. 3) In the window that opens, you will see a category labeled "Special," with a small drop-down menu below it. 4) Click on the drop-down menu and select "Hanging." 5) Click "OK," found at the bottom of the window, and you should have your hanging indent.
