In Figure (a) we study two particles, A and B. They are separated by distance a. Particle A initially has a positive charge of +Q and particle B is electrically neutral (q = 0). Thus, no electric force acts between them. The particles are then connected, as shown in Figure (b). This allows for an equal distribution of charges between the two particles.
