If sin theta = -4/5 and theta is in quadrant 4, the value of sec theta is _____. If necessary, use the slash mark ( / ) for a fraction bar. Lost.. don't know how to even start this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think of a 3 - 4 - 5 right triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the sine of that angle is \(\frac{4}{5}\) and the secant of that angle is \(\frac{5}{3}\) now we can worry about if it is positive or negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since you are in quadrant 4, cosine is positive and so secant is positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 5/3 ? because thats the sec. and then postive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

Thank you! :)
