what is: 2/3 X 5/6 X 14 =

this is so that i can help a 5th grader. and i am horrible at fractions. please show work and or explain how to do it. so that i can show her how to do it as well.

Lucky for you, fraction multiplication isn't so bad (at least not as bad as addition!).
For fraction multiplication, we simply multiply the numerators together and multiply the denominators together.


14 is the same as 14/1 (this helps so that we have all fractions). We just multiply straight through: the numerators 2*5*14, and the denominators: 3*6*1. Can you see how that works? :)
