What resources led to the appearance of the Industrial Revolution in New England?

Coal and steel, I believe. Though there was a lot of steam usage back then.

Industries developed way quicker because they began using coal instead of wood and because of various technological developments such as the use of steam engines to power machines instead of manual labour. But resources were also important in various other areas such as cotton in the textile industry and so forth.
