A grocery store will only accept yellow onions that are at least 2.75 in. in diameter. A grower has a crop of onions with diameters that are normally distributed, with a mean diameter of 3.25 in. and a standard deviation of 0.25 in. What percent of the onions will be accepted by the grocery store?

OpenStudy (yacoub1993):

i think you need some sort of table for this, but not really we can guess at the answer easy

OpenStudy (yacoub1993):

the mean is 3.25 and the standard deviation is .25 so 2.75 is two standard deviations below the mean, and the grocer is taking everything from there on up

OpenStudy (yacoub1993):

so he is taking most of them you have 4 options and only one of them is large, pick that one

OpenStudy (yacoub1993):

@KeemoD143 understood

OpenStudy (anonymous):

97.5% ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that's a normal distribution problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would that be the right answer

OpenStudy (yacoub1993):

Yes ur answer is correct @KeemoD143

OpenStudy (abb0t):
