Is there any rule that says an adjective/modifier in the attributive position must always be placed immediately before the noun? Please consider this sentence: "John will join three other of his compatriots at the competition." The preposition "of" and possessive pronoun "his" are placed between the adjective "other" and the noun "compatriots". Is this grammatically sound? Thanks for your help.
